What does it take to pull off the perfect movie heist? In 2015 we assembled a crack team, the best of the best heist films of all time. And now, we’re getting a new group of cinematic schemers for one last big score. Let’s look at all the different mechanics of the perfect job. From getting the team together, to the plan and the getaway, here are the 10 best movie heists of all time.

The first thing you need if you want to steal something is the thing itself. There are of course the diamonds, cash and maguffins, but we like the motive based heists, like George Clooney trying to win Julia Roberts back in Ocean’s Eleven, or revenge in The Italian Job. Then there’s the plan which may involve magicians like Now You See Me, or keep it obscured until the very end like Spike Lee and Inside Man. Maybe you like your heists down to earth and believable, like the no frills guns blazing variety with Robert De Niro and Al Pacino in Heat or Ben Affleck and Jeremy Renner in The Town. And if that’s too tame, try the Fast and Furious franchise for globe-trotting, physics defying mayhem, or an Avengers: Endgame Time Heist.
