Let's talk about the best Netflix originals that critics were totally wrong about. It’s a tough time to be a critic - it seems that critical analysis of movies and television shows has gone by the wasteside in favor or odd promotion and nonsensical praise. Critics were wrong about The Last Jedi - regardless if you liked it or not the proof is in the fan reaction and lackluster toy sales. So with that should we be surprised that critics were wrong about these Netflix shows?

Brain On Fire is the true story of Susannah Cahalan, played by Chloe Grace Moretz, who contracted a rare form of encephalitis, Critics derided the film for it’s cliched formula and deus ex machina ending - where a hero doctor came in out of nowhere and saved her. The only problem with the critique is that’s exactly how it happened. Being critical of a true story that remains factual is an odd complaint.

Anne With An E is another retelling of Anne Of Green Gables. If you’re familiar with the story - and you should be - Anne had a tough childhood and in the book the story picks up with her arrival at a farm on Prince Edward Island. Anne With An E provides a backstory to some of her younger adventures as she bounces from orphanage to orphanage and family to family, as well as giving more depth to her adoptive “parents” - a brother and sister. Critics didn’t think the backstory mattered, but fans have adored the extra layers - with a Season 3 already confirmed.
