Love him or hate him, Spider-Man is one of Stan Lee’s most successful comics; here’s every Spider-Man movie ranked worst to best. Starting at the bottom, Spider-Man 3 has some questionable moments, such as when the venom symbiote falls from space and latches to Peter Parker. The overabundance of villains, like Sandman, The New Venom, and Green Goblin wasn’t the only complaint. Flint Marko’s murder of Spider-Man’s father, Ben Parker served to dramatically change the narrative around Spider-Man’s qualms with his dad.

Not unlike Spider-Man 3, Spider-Man 2 had a plethora of bad guys. Electro, Green goblin, and The Rhino, which made for an overwhelming cast. While the Rhino was portrayed as a gunman throughout almost the entirety of the film; he would finally be portrayed as a man in a Rhino suit, making for a not so climactic battle between the two in the final scenes. More well-received than it’s sequel, Amazing Spider-Man left Toby Mcguire behind, opting for the face of Andrew Garfield. To echo the Marvel Comics, Andrew Garfield played a funnier, wittier Spider-Man, eliciting a more positive audience reaction.

Following the release of X-Men and Blade, the first Spider-Man gave rise to less edgy heroes like Thor and Captain America. While the original laid the framework for many films to follow, the film wouldn’t be without its faults. The stiff Green Goblin mask worn by Willem Dafoe made for an awkward looking villain nonetheless. Tom Holland’s portrayal in Spider-Man: Homecoming has a unique charm that no other Spider-Man could get quite right. Tom Holland portraying a younger Spider-Man makes for an even more dramatic storyline when taking down Michael Keaton’s well-played Vulture.

In a close second, Otto Octavius portrayed by Alfred Molina in Spider-Man 2 would create a suspense hardly matched by any other Spider-Man film. This constant struggle between both polarizing characters would make Spider-Man 2 unmatched. Finally, the unique Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse would bridge the gap between the Marvel comics and film. Whether it’s the cartoon-pig Spider-Man, anime influenced production, or a Spider-Man noir portrayed by Nicholas Cage, each of these pieces would make for an equally refreshing, yet complex Spider-Man film.
